Why the calls are not free
Every phone call costs money to place, each time, and a call is the thing that wakes somebody at four in the morning. Texts cost money too, and they used to be the paid part — but telling your contact at all is the promise the app makes, and putting a price on the promise was wrong. So the text is free now. The call is what you pay for.
Can I use the free version forever?
Yes. It does not expire, it does not nag, and nothing is charged. Plenty of people use it that way.
